In the middle 1990’s everyone started talking about needing a website. Now, the new “must have” is a web log or blog. While blogs can come in all shapes and sizes, a blog is just a very simple way to publish a journal, record of events, thoughts, ideas or whatever the author wants to write about. A blog sits on a website – whether that site is run by you or managed by a company that will “host” your blog.

OMake sure that your customers know that your blog exists. Providing some targeted advertising on the Internet is not hard. Try some link exchange programs with web sites, blogs, and ezines that have similar content to your blog. In many cases, simply providing a link to another web site can convince that web master to provide a link to your blog.

Don’t buy the so-called “black hat” blogging software. There are great and legimate blogging software out there that will give you the results you need.

So, how do you get started? It’s easy. You can search the net for “top mommy blogs” or “top baby learn more” and get some great ideas where to look for good quality sites. You may like some and dislike others, but you don’t have to read them all. You can bookmark your favorites and leave the rest. On these blogs, you will also see buttons or links to other blogs. Take a look sometime at the sites that your favorites are linking to, and you may find another favorite!

The term weblog was invented by Jorn Barger in 1997, but it was shortened to Blog by Peter Merholz in 1999. The word blog may have actually been a typo. Peter used the phrase ‘we blog’ in the sidebar of his weblog. blogs started popping up more often on the Internet in 1999, and in March of 2003, the Oxford English Dictionary added the words weblog, weblogging, and weblogger to the dictionary.

In a quick peek at those statistics I realized that the visitors from all over the globe. And so I went to MSN search which is much friendlier to blog searches than Google or Yahoo. Google maintains its own blog search facility separate from its normal search. Yes your blog can end up in Google Main Search as well, but that would take an incredible amount of great back-links to it and really high popularity. MSN was still showing my blog in search requests.

Tons of people gain a great knowledge of how to make money online – but very few actually do it and put what they’ve learned into practice! So once you are comfortable just do it, doing it is the best way to learn and grow.
