JK: I don’t think people are hedging against the euro with bitcoin. The crisis brought a lot more attention and exposure to Bitcoin. People found out about Bitcoin because of the euro crisis, but we’re not flooded by people from Cyprus trying to buy Bitcoin Evolution, so it’s not a direct correlation.

More exhaustive searching finally resulted in some success. We did find a place that would order us an e-giftcard for any 3 of the national pizza chains with our PayPal funds – but it was really hard to find!

The human mind is such that it makes even the most acceptable facts seem unacceptable. Brains are only prone to the acceptance of the old. Rare is the intellect that accepts the new and the novel. Coins and paper money have been in use almost since well not since dinosaurs and stone aged men clubbing women stone cold on their heads for wives but at least since the human race bitcoin became an intelligent species so to say the least.

In July of 2001, Standard and Poor’s (S&P) cut the credit rating of Argentina. S&P did the same thing to the U.S. rating 10 years later (2011). There was uproar in the halls of Congress about this even though arguably, the lower credit rating could have come much sooner. To make matters worse, U.S. credit agencies granted pristine ratings to mortgage-backed securities in their heyday. Fitch, another credit agency, is warning of further action against the U.S. this year.
