A basic wilderness survival kit should support one person for three days. Emergency food, water, shelter, first aid, lighting, and signaling supplies should be included in your kit. Tools are necessary for wilderness survival. If you were abandoned in the forest with nothing, the least you would want is a survival kit. This is the goal of your kit. You may have to travel great distances if stranded living in the wilderness. Collect enough gear for your whole family, and go on a survival camping trip. Boil water, eat, signal rescue, address medical needs, and learn to use tools that will sustain and support yourself and your family.

The first step is to pick out your main pack. It’s important to have a durable backpack to fit all your gear and supplies in. I suggest (and personally use) a backpack known as the MOLLE Assault Pack by made by Specialty Defense Systems or SDS for short. The quality of this pack is incredible. It is super durable and also somewhat waterproof. This is the same equipment that is provided to the soldiers presently serving in the United States military. So I say, if it’s good enough for combat, it’s good enough for me.

If you have one, a backpack makes an excellent container for your emergency supplies. If you don’t have a backpack, a nylon duffel with sturdy handles will work.

When putting together your emergency preparedness kit you must consider what kinds and how much food stuff you want to put away. You may be thinking short term as in a weeks worth out to one year supply. When making a purchase many people opt for the ready made food supply packages that can give you everything for a family of four, as an example. This can be a good way to go for some but it can be expensive and it may include items you don’t really want.

As food prices rise, we figure we’re even making a profit on our investment in stored food. We haven’t added it up but our bank balance seems to have more give in it, all to the good.

If there is no Survival UK preparedness in your mind then consider stocking food in advance. Here it is necessary to mention that you should not stock items like a departmental store. First make a list of items to stock and then find a safe and convenient place for stocked food. The place should be safe for food packets and convenient for the homeowners.

“One-Day” treks are not only fun, but they teach your kids that you don’t have to go to Disney World to have a good time—or even on a camping trip. There are lots of things to enjoy and explore right in your own vicinity so take advantage of it. You might even give each member of the family a “One-Day” trek day of his or her own in which all the planning of where to go, what to take, etc. is left up to that person.

As to the affordability of the products, it could be said that people will be able to get their money’s worth because companies make it sure that the quality of food will not be taken for granted. In fact, many will agree that since many are now into the survival food storage business, the competition signals these companies to never compromise the quality of their products with the price because people are wise enough to weigh quality and price in these modern days. These foods could also be bought in bulks which could save up money. Buying in bulks will also set the advantage of not being affected by high rise of food prices. Thus, money spent will not be wasted. It will become more of an investment.
