Email open rates are declining each year. According to a study conducted by digital marketing software company Silverpop in 2012 the average open rate was 20.1%. That’s down from 22.2% in 2009. People are facing a barrage of email and they are only opening those emails, where they can’t resist reading the content.

Although I have a good job and make a pretty good income, it is still a “job”. I can’t show up whenever I want and take days off whenever I want. I am still tied to a brick and mortar office.

C.Landing Pages: make sure you have a separate landing page for each marketing initiative. Each email, banner and PPC ad should have its own landing page so you can track page visits to these dedicated pages with your Analytics account. d.Dedicated 800 numbers: There are services that will provide you with a range of 800 numbers that redirect to your main phone number. Including a dedicated 800 number on each landing page will enable you to associate each call with a specific campaign.

Build your reputation as someone who is genuinely out for the best interest of their customers. Don’t be the sleazy car salesman who’s just trying to make a sale by telling the customer, “I’m not sure if I can make you the same deal tomorrow if you don’t buy now” or “this is the last one I got” when he has a dozen more just like it in the back lot.

Internet marketing is simply put, promoting a product or service online. It’s often referred to as duskin anthony terteling because it ties together the creative and technical aspects of the Internet, including design, development, advertising, and sales.

Compliment your other offline marketing efforts. After you have advertised on TV or newspaper, people will go online to look for your company, product or service. Without search marketing, your website cannot be found online and this is opportunity lost.

Facebook is also a good advertising place but which I don’t recommend. Basically, despite having close to a billion users, most people go to Facebook to hangout and meet with friends. They don’t go there to find your products. This is in contrast to Google where people visit to search for products. I also recommend LinkedIn which has a unique blend of visitors who might likely purchase your products.

Are you still convinced that direct mail is old school? If you’re not convinced, then you might want to look at some of the Fortune 500 companies like American Express, Hewlett Packard and so many more. Every one of them uses direct mail as part of their marketing plan and strategy.
